I was skeptical after reading many reviews. I found the hotel to be very well placed, clean and was very happy with the service we received. I would return to this hotel if back in Palmerston again

I chose the superior room upgrade Nice queen bed with spare single in the room which is always the best place to throw your luggage. Free internet in the lobby, but who needs it nowadays with Vodafone's great data plans and the personal hotspot on your iPhone 4. Just watch the hotel internet rates fall. Hotels can no longer charge more for 24 hours of data than what we now have to pay for a month on our cell phones. Exceptionally good service from duty manager Andrew. Even rang us in our room to check how we liked it shortly after our arrival. My sixth-floor room heat pump would not turn on for twenty minutes in the moring, despite switching all timing off. An overpriced breakfast with bad coffee.

Very happy quite comfortable with the minimum of fuss. Food good and beer cold, just the way I like it.

The hotel was a little hard to find but we were looking for something on the street rather than a little bit back. The location was great close to shops and cafes. Hotel is a little old and perhaps needs a bit of a face lift but really no problem. Enjoyed our stay.
