Picture a Myrtle Beach hotel from the 1970s. Overpriced, rundown and only interested in seperating you from your money ($21.00 for a drink & cup of coffee in the bar). Not a very good stay. Hotel is run down. Needs remodeling. Wi Fi and Cell phone use on the grounds were almost non existent. Carpets are stained and dirty. Only 3 elevators on the whole property. If you are at the farthest point it will take a good 10 min. just to get to your car. Overall, needs a face lift.

The room we were given had stains in the carpet (3026). The pool was closed and had apparently been closed for quite some time and there was no workmen on it when we arrived. I was disappointed that the hotel chose this week to remodel their pool. I know it has to be done sometime, but... there was considerable jack hammering throughout the day and it made it difficult to just relax by the pool or even sit outside our room on the porch. I found it cumbersome that towels at the pool or beach needed to be checked out from […] the room each time you needed one and there were no chairs or umbrellas that were complementary for hotel guests at the beach. Wifi in the room was in and out and we never had a very strong signal. It was fine with the cable hooked into the computer. Staff was great and helped with anything we requested, even giving us a mini-fridge for some medication (although why all rooms don't come with a refrigerator is beyond me). The Westin is in a great location and the grounds could be quite lovely. The problem we encountered is that they are currently under construction to upgrade the facility. This is a good thing in the long run, but we didn't really want to be there while they were doing it! The main pool was empty and under repair. The poolside drink and food service was abysmal and people were very unhappy;. A guy started using a leaf blower near our chairs at one point! The ice makers on each floor were out of service due to construction. Our room had an adjoining door to the next room. The door was apparently not soundproofed because we could clearly hear the family next door at all hours of the day and night. To add to it all, the front desk was severely understaffed and it took forever to check in. The woman who helped us was glacially slow and not at all helpful. I would give it a year or so and try it out if you like the location at the north end of the island. We booked our vacation at the Weston Hotel a few months ago, after reading some unfavorable reviews about the condition of the hotel and some of the service, I almost cancelled..... thank heavens I didn't!. My experience at the check in counter was horrible!!! The reservation was made in my name but paid for by my significant other. What a fiasco! I was told I didn't have a reservation after my significant other was told all I had to do was go in and show my ID. The girl that Nancy spoke to left the counter, and the rest of the staff could not get it […] figured out. Finally I went out to the car, got Nancy to come in with, had to speak with the manager, and then, miraculously, over an hour later, I got our room keys. The check in is a hassle from having to let them hold your car keys if you don't stay with the car, to the requirement of having to request valet service, and bag handling if you want a luggage cart. Transferred to the Westin after a conference at the Marriot. The Westin was 1/2 the price but significantly nicer. The bedding was excellant, and the room clean and well maintained. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The only downside was that because it was off season, some of the amenities were closed.

Very nice resort. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there and was really impressed. Very clean and the staff was very nice. Shops and restaurants were just down the road too. Would definitely recommend it to others.

From the time we arrived to this hotel, things went wrong. When we first walked into our room, we noticed it was cool in the room. I bumped up our temperature on the thermostat and it just started blowing cold air, which made it even colder in the room. We went down to the front desk and asked someone to come up and take a look at it while we went for […] a walk. When we came back, they had left a card saying that they had fixed it, but it was still blowing cold air. We just turned the unit off in order to stay our warmest. Trying to get service for anything was just a fiasco. Everything we did we had to track down the hotel staff. We waited literally 20 minutes just to get a towel for the hot tub. As soon as I checked in, I was informed that I had been upgraded to a better room which was beautiful. The room had a great ocean view. The only issues we had was the air conditioner in the room was somewhat loud and the toilet ran.

We and other customers were surprised and disappointed the the Hotel allowed dogs. We had to move rooms after checking in once we realized our neighbors had a dog in the room barking. We also noticed the guests with dogs allowed them to do their business wherever and some were not on leases. NOT GOOD.

Ideally located on the island for us. It's not in the thick of things but everything is close. The Island is only so big. The advantage of the hotel being right on the beach is a super plus. We would definitely return to the Westin on future trips. D & D

The carpets were dirty and worn. Our refrigerator did not work. They did bring in a working unit, but it was in poor condition. Only one outside pool was heated. The other two pools were too cold to use even though the outside temperature was 75 to 80 degrees every day of our stay. Convenience to the beach was great. We spent two nights here on our way back from Florida. It is in a lovely cul-de-sac type of area, along with a couple of other resorts which gives it a lovely 'village' feel. The front desk staff were great. The entrance has a classy yet causal ambiance,,,I had sort of known what to expect of the room as I had read reviews - so knowing it was still […] basically a 'seaside hotel', I didn't want to have high expectations - however the room, if a bit worn, was very clean and had a nice atmopshere, I felt right at home. Beautiful luxury bedding, comfy mattress, sofa and coffee table, lots of channels on TV and very clean bathroom made for a comfy stay. Have to say, it could have done with a small fridge,,the brown thing that looks like one,,isn't lol*,,it's a storage unit,,,not much use to be honest. BUT when I saw they provide Starbucks coffee in the room all was forgiven! As for the pool area it is vast and open plan kinda thing with the hotel shaped like a horseshoe around the 3 pools, walk way to beach - with many trees, beds and umbrellas. It had a great happy/sunny/easy going atmosphere with people - and butterflies - milling around, (well the butterflies were flying lol) eating lunch, swimming, playing table tennis etc. We liked the holiday feel there. The local area is wonderful,,so many restaurants and shopping plaza's with a country/seaside feel. People very friendly. If I have one or two negative comments they would be that, as many guests have stated,,,the restaurant is very expensive! We went for buffet breakfast but decided to leave when we realized it would cost over $50 for the two of us. Also, a reg coffee by the pool cafe is $3 - more than at Starbucks! Plate of fries $5,,,you really have to go just outside to other chain or mom & pop restaurants unless you want to spend around $200+ for two days food. A great time had by me and my coaching staff and our families. Special thanks to Alice in the restaurant who may my 1 year olds stay a unforgettable. You guys do a great job!!!!!!!

The inside desperately needs updating and the carpets are horrible. I believe tile would be a better choice. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The outside grounds and location make the place worth the money. They are fantastic. Cleavland our waiter was so nice and everthing was so lovely and relaxing on the resort exterior.

we stayed here for two nights for my birthday weekend and we checked in around 6pm, after we hit the beach. when we checked in , the front desk people were nice and we checked in smoothly with no problems. then when we went up to our room, i went to go wash up the kids from all the salt water and first thing i noticed was there was pubic hairs all over […] the tub and toilet seat. i was disgusted but i got the shower head and washed off the tub. then when my husband reached for a towel the towel was stained and still had remainings of what looked like someone wiped there hiney with it. after that i was really disgusted i called the front desk all they did was bring new towels in. i wouldnt really recommend with small children because the access to elevater is not close at all we were at one end of the hotel and the elevator to that is to the beach access so you still have to go all around to get to the car. and the elevator to the parking lot is far so we had to walk far through hotel to get there. but the bed was comfortable and the island part where the pools are was fun for the kids. もっと読む

Could not have been happier about our beachfront room. Being a Starwood member allowed me to wait for the top floor unit we preferred all along, and we had the nicest housekeeper! We will most certainly stay there again, most probably next year!

We had a great stay at the Westin Hilton Head Island! The common areas of the hotal were beautiful! There were 3 pools including one under a pavilion with ceiling fans to keep the sun/heat off. Hotel is gorgeous and the staff is well trained to take care of your every need. I've been to Hilton Head many times, but this is our first time at the Westin. Loved it. Would definitely do it again! Really kid friendly. The room was gorgeous and really comfortable.

Some of the negative reviewers of the Westin Resort on Hilton Head Island had me a bit spooked. So much that I told my family, "I hope the hotel is OK. I've read some bad reviews." Well, fortunately, the positive majority opinion about the hotel on the review sites was more accurate than the minority negative reviews. We had a very nice stay at the […] Westin, and I can't really think of anything bad to say about it other than the restaurant prices were very expensive. But I'm not enough of a food expert to say whether the food justified the cost, so all I can say is there are many other nearby restaurant options that you can take advantage of. The location of the hotel to the beach was outstanding. Couldn't be better. The pools were excellent and sat amid a very comfortable, large courtyard. We had no problems with service, and the comments I'd read about the hotel needing a refresh were not validated during our stay. The only real criticism my wife had was that the shower/bathroom could use a fan. I had hoped that a resort oceanfront hotel would provide a relaxing stay, easy access to the ocean and full service. The Westin is a fine place to stay. The room was comfortable, though not the most well appointed I have ever seen. The carpet in the hotel is terrible/old. Many of the rooms are not up to date and old. Our Ocean Front Premier Room wasn't worth the money we paid to stay in it, so we requested another room. We had to accept a room without a view to get a up to date and clean room. No Ocean front for us this trip. This was a nice hotel. I don't think I would stay there again for the price I paid. The ocean view was slanted and you had to go out on the balcony to see it. The pool needs redone - the sides were concrete, very strange. The service was very friendly and hepful.

I have stayed at other Westin locations and the HH location that provided me with the "Island View" was just- okay. The "Island View" will provide you with nothing but trees, which, in part, makes the grounds beautiful; however, I like to wake up to either a view of the beach or the sound of crashing waves. In order to reserve a Westin beach chair and umbrella you have to pay an additional 35$ the first day and a reduced rate all subsequent days. The beach was very close and nice; however, the hotel was rundown. The carpets were very soiled in the hallways. In the room, there were not enough outlets for two laptops, phone, etc. The staff were very nice.

The resort is well appointed, decor is nice. The carpets all need replacing but other than that the place is clean and comfortable. The pools and beach area are great. Food at the carolina room is very good, snacks at the turle bar at the pool are good. Service around the pool area is fair at best. I would stay here again.

The Westin Hilton Head was on a beautiful location in Hilton Head, SC, with a beautiful beach. That being said, with a hotel as nice and as expensive as the Westin, this hotel sadly fell short of my expectations. When we walked in, the lobby was beautiful, but I'm afraid the rest of the hotel was badly in need of repairs. Hotel location excellent. Easy access to beach and pool. Also, hotel is central to Hilton Head Island. Pool area has fun beautiful setting & fun activities for the kids. Only downside is that the rooms are showing a few signs of aging & carpet needs to be replaced.

For the money you can do better than this hotel. While the staff was friendly and accomodating, the hotel itself felt very average. Pros: Beach access was very good. Poolside service was very good. The one positive is the grounds and pools were beautiful. The room had stains on the carpet, the freezor had defrosted onto the carpet and smelled moldy. The maid said she had sprayed something on it. The area was still wet. The walls needed repainting. The vent had condesation and rust on the walls below it. The bathroom had broken tiles and gaps between […] the tile wall and floors. The bathtub had some kind of debrie in the bottom of it. There was no operable vent in the bathroom. There was a gap 6-8 inches between the space for the refridgerator and the cut out space for it to fit. The carpet in the hallways and conference areas was really worn. There were many areas where the carpet was not flush with the rest of the carpet so much that someone could have tripped on it and fallen. Unfortunately, they were booked up. I told the girl at the check that the Westin was not what was expected and told her of all the above issues. She did not say anything. I asked her if she has heard this before and again more silence and I told her evidently she has based on her facial expression.
